Overview

This course, Digital Transformation, examines both the theory and practice of transformation across industries and organisations of all sizes. Designed for aspiring leaders, change agents, and innovators, it explores the lifecycle, scale, and pace of transformations, distinguishing them from conventional change initiatives. Participants will learn about the lifecycle of transformation, the importance of articulating a simple vision, strategy and plan, the delivery process – its rituals and rhythms and how to anticipate and manage things that go wrong!

Through interactive discussions, case studies, and hands-on exercises, the course introduces frameworks for digital delivery, leadership, and cultural change. Students will discover how technology serves as a catalyst for radical innovation as well as supporting execution of delivery and collaboration. Real-world examples, multimedia resources, and insights from leading thought leaders enrich the learning experience.

By the end of the course, participants will confidently navigate digital transformation challenges and possess the tools to drive projects that deliver meaningful and measurable impact.

Prerequisites

None needed – course is open to all with a curiosity to learn about transformation initiatives with a digital core.

Methodology

Students will learn through a combination of interactive lectures, hands-on workshops, and real-world project development. The course includes individual and group exercises to analyse case studies, design transformation initiatives, and solve simulated challenges. Students will engage in class discussions, where they will present their ideas, and receive feedback from the group. We will emphasis practical application of ‘theories’ and will be working collaboratively to develop essential critical thinking skills.

• Week 1: Explore the fundamentals of digital transformation, including its lifecycle, complexity, and drivers. Analyse and map real-world case studies to identify key roles and dynamics at play. Understand the role of technology in transformation.

• Week 2: Dive into strategic planning by creating a vision, aligning it with key drivers, and defining the governance and delivery rhythm of a transformation initiative.

• Week 3: Learn about keeping the show on the road – getting to the outcome, spotting problems, addressing critical challenges, incorporating strategic adjustments, tackling tactical changes, milestone management, and progress evaluation – tips, traps and survival strategies.

Grading

The final grade will be composed of the following criteria:
10% - Weekly Reflections
20% - Participation
20% - Transformation Life Cycle Analysis
30% - Final Project (2 parts)
