Overview

The process of developing one’s idea into a successful business venture is a long and difficult journey. This course aims to explain what it takes to undertake proper initial analysis, how to make go/no-go decisions, whom to invite to join you, how to motivate, incentivize, nurture and grow your team, and why and when to pivot. Also, how to use lessons from unavoidable failures, how to sell your product to customers and your business to investors and when and how to exit your venture to start anew (or go to the beach).

Methodology

The class is divided into stable groups (teams) of 4-5 people each. They will need to identify their project and work on it together. The goal is to develop a solid strategy and business plan, answer all the key questions, and address all the pain points.

Each Friday, there is a milestone delivery for the project. The last Friday, the whole project will be delivered. No assignments are due that day.

Grading

The final grade will be composed of the following criteria:
20% - First week’s project - 2,5% each day’s homework (4 days in total) and 10% the project itself
25% - Second week’s project - 3% each day’s homework (5 days in total) and 10% the project itself
40% - Final Project - 3% each day’s homework (5 days in total) and 25% the project itself
15% - Participation - 1% per each day in class

Andrey Kostyuk is best described as an entrepreneur, investor and mentor because of his background and experience in the business and financial world.

He began his professional journey in 1992 in finance. From 1998 until 2018, he served as Board Member and Chairman of an Advisory Board in several private merchant banks while managing a real estate investment fund since 2007.
