Overview

This course introduces design students to the foundational principles of design, including composition, color theory, typography, and grid systems. Over three weeks, students will develop a solid understanding of these concepts through hands-on exercises, projects, and critical analysis. The course is designed to equip students with the essential skills needed to create balanced, aesthetically pleasing, and functional designs.

Prerequisites

No prerequisites. This course is designed for design students.

Methodology

Week 1: Introduction to Design Fundamentals Sessions 1-5: Focus on history of design, composition, grids and basic layout techniques. Includes lectures, workshops, and hands-on activities.

Week 2: Deep Dive into Color Theory and Typography Explore color theory, its psychological impact, and typography basics. Students will work on exercises and small projects to apply these concepts.

Week 3: Designing Systems and Final Project Development Learn about graphic systems and layout design. Begin working on the final project, integrating all the skills learned. The final sessions will focus on project development, peer review, and presentations.

Grading

The final grade will be composed of the following criteria:
30% - Homework and Weekly Exercises
50% - Final Project
20% - Participation in Discussions and Peer Reviews

He demonstrated his ability to drive successful product launches (among them Waze, TV channels and content providers, products suite, Major banks and more), and assemble high-performing creative teams. He forged valuable partnerships with numerous companies and startups, both as in-house employee and as a co-founder of design studios in both San Francisco and Israel.
