Algebra and Number Theory.
Each class will consist of a theoretical part illustrated by examples and exercises. Students are encouraged to try and solve these exercises during class and are encouraged to ask as many questions as possible; there will be room for open discussion and questions.
Practicing exercises will be given after each class. These are expected to be handed over after a couple of days. At the end of each week, we’ll dedicate time for a correction session for the homework of the week, followed by a midterm exam.
Finally, the module ends with a tutorial session where students can review what they have learned with the professor and a final exam. Participation is more than welcome, and will be part of the final grade.
Laurent graduated from Grande Ecole Centrale de Nantes in France, and then obtained his PhD in Mathematics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) in 2020.
After a first post-doctoral position at the UAB, he was awarded a three-year Margarita Salas grant in January 2022. He is currently co-hosted as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) and the UAB.
