Skills you’ll learn
This is a 10-day, 30-hour immersive module within HSU’s Strategic Management Master’s programme, designed for future-ready professionals working in real companies. The Conscious Business & Leadership (CB&L) programme empowers students to lead successfully with integrity, clarity, and impact — by aligning values with actions and collaboration with purpose.
In a world shaped by complexity, artificial intelligence, and systemic disruption, technical skills alone are not enough. Companies now need conscious leaders — individuals with a growth mindset who can learn continuously, build trust, navigate tension, and lead themselves and others from a place of purpose. CB&L responds to this need by developing the inner capacities that drive outward results.
Particularly those from high-tech backgrounds — who are preparing to step into leadership roles in start-ups or innovation-driven companies. The module is facilitated by Thierry de Beyssac, certified Axialent Partner, Coach, and Senior Practitioner in Conscious Business.
10 classes
Begin your journey by exploring why conscious leadership matters in today’s complex world. Discover the I–WE–IT model and Fred Kofman’s philosophy of “success beyond success.” Set your personal intention for the programme, clarify the kind of leader you aspire to become, and connect the CB&L journey to your internship or start-up context.
Shift from reactive to proactive leadership. Learn how to own your role — even in challenging situations — by exploring the BE–DO–HAVE framework and adopting a 100% responsibility mindset. Practise taking ownership of your contribution in team challenges, and apply tools for response-ability in real project settings.
Leadership begins with humility. Learn to let go of being right, remain open to feedback, and act with deep integrity — even under pressure. Identify the costs of the Knower mindset, and reflect on the alignment between your values and actions.
Learn how to say what matters with clarity and empathy. Discover tools to navigate tension, give feedback effectively, and transform conflict into connection. Reframe difficult conversations to build shared understanding, and apply these skills to real-life internship dynamics or team challenges.
Explore how to balance speaking your truth with listening deeply to others. Use Inquiry and Advocacy to foster understanding and alignment. Practise “truth-telling with humility,” and strengthen dialogue with peers and stakeholders. Learn to use the Ladder of Inference and Conversation Map effectively.
Shift how you perceive conflict — from threat to opportunity. Learn practical tools and approaches for mastering conflict by:
* Using the Polarity Thinking Map.
* Leveraging collective intelligence.
* Applying effective negotiation based on Interests vs. Positions.
* Addressing unclear decision rights and practising conscious escalation when needed.
Learn how to make clear, reliable requests and promises that enhance team effectiveness. Discover why even well-intentioned teams struggle to follow through. Understand the Commitment Cycle and its common failure points. Practise making and honouring clear agreements to strengthen delivery and build trust within your team role.
Your emotions are not a weakness — they are data. Learn to recognise, regulate, and use them consciously to lead with presence and composure. Identify your emotional patterns and triggers, practise self-regulation under pressure, and apply emotional intelligence to guide team dynamics.
Time to connect the dots. Reflect on your evolution as a leader and apply CB&L tools in real-world situations through coaching and case-based learning. Apply CB&L principles to internship or start-up dilemmas, deepen your insights through peer reflection and coaching, and prepare your Conscious Leader Growth Plan.
